How to Create Lag in the Golf Swing

Every golf player wishes to hit the ball straighter and farther than they do. The solution that can help you achieve that is to create lag. That is what the real golf players that are known do and that is why they hit the ball so straight and so far.

You must ask yourself now what lag is. I will try to explain you as easy as I can: you must pull your club with all your body. This must be like an opposite with pushing the club with your arms and with your hands.

  • You must imagine that you hold a water bucket. When you try to swing the water from do bucket, how will you do that? You will sure start to use your biggest muscles to achieve it. This will help you to keep the water in your bucket. If you will try to use your arms and hands in order to achieve that, you will notice that the water will come out from the bucket and you will get wet!
  • There is also a drill that will help you to create a lag in golf swings. You must just pick a target and send the golf ball like you would normally do that. If you are a right handed person that plays golf, you must use your index and thumb fingers in order to make them look just like a gun. This will bring you the best results. You don’t have to become lazy and stop doing that because this will make you to miss your purpose.
  • If you are skeptic about this solution you just need to think of it. Think about the fact that those two fingers help you to work almost the entire day. Those fingers are trained during the day because they do all kind of jobs like holding a spoon, writing and so on.

Golf swing role of the shoulders and right hand

Initiate the backswing:
